Notes
A slight but accurate copy made by Robert Smirke (1780-1867) who allowed himself the re-design of the sculpted figures around the oculus. David Laing (1774-1856) kept closely to the original section. On Laing's and Smirke's subsequent careers see H.Colvin, Biographical dictionary of British architects, 1600-1840, 3rd ed. 1995.
