Purpose

[4] Finished drawing for the front elevation of a house, 1780, unexecuted

Aspect

Principal elevation of a two-storey house with a hipped roof with a balustraded parapet, and a central porte-cochere with a pediment supported by paired Ionic columns with a fluted frieze adorned with enclosed rosettes. There is a large fanlight over the central entrance, and the outer bays contain openings within pedimented and consoled surrounds with Diocletian windows above. The elevation is adorned with string coursing, a guilloche frieze and a dentilled and moulded cornice
