Purpose
[7] Design for the north front of a house, 1787, unexecuted
Aspect
North (entrance) elevation of a three-storey, five-bay house with flanking links terminating in three-bay, two-storey pavilions, all over a half-sunk basement, with adjoining basement offices adorned with sculptural groups of putti on dolphins. The main house has a central porte-cochere with Tuscan columns supporting a balustraded parapet. The central bay of the flanking links is articulated by Tuscan columns with a balustraded parapet, and the pavilions are pedimented. The entire elevation is adorned with square-headed windows, some in relieving arches, string coursing and moulded cornices
