Elevation of a chimneypiece with stiles adorned with scrolled foliage on calyx pairs, surmounted by enclosed rosettes with swags, followed by pairs of sphinxes, and anthemion, with medallions in the capitals with rosettes, with a central panel containing an urn flanked by half-figures, and a frieze containing urns with poppies enclosed by olive leaf arches and calyx pairs, with a dentilled cornice and moulded mantel above

This chimneypiece had to be relocated from the north wall to the east wall during Adam’s 1787 alterations to accommodate a central doorway to open onto the new staircase.
