Purpose

[9] Design for the north east front of a castle-style building, 1789, unexecuted

Aspect

North east elevation of a three-storey, thirteen-bay building over a half-sunk basement with projecting ends flanked by circular turrets. The central bay has a deep porte-cochère with a balustrade adorned with lozenges, with tripartite windows above framed in a tall, recessed arch, flanked by square towers, with heraldry above. The elevation is adorned with arched windows, square-headed windows, crosses, and oculi as well as machicolated cornices, balustrading, and string coursing
