Notes
Adam's ceiling design for the study, which Harris called 'a miniature Palmyrene room', was inspired by an Upright of the same [the sepulchre] with one of the soffits of the repositories from Robert Wood's Ruins of Palmyra (1753) pl. xxxvii.
