Notes
This drawing shows two designs, varying in width, for chimney stacks with two flues and decorated with antefixae. Folded several times, it was probably used on site as a working drawing. The recto shows the design for the chimney stacks on the west front while the verso shows the design for the chimney stacks on the south and north sides of the Gallery; wider with larger gaps between the flues. Both were executed.
On the right hand side of the drawing is an unrelated detail, drawn to a different scale. It seems to be a profile of a chimney stack, but not as executed. It is drawn to the same proportions as the elevation but shows different mouldings and structure. This was perhaps drawn first as an alternative preliminary design sketch, and then the elevation was drawn fully dimensioned as a working drawing to be used on site.
