Rough perspectives of garden terrace turret and wall, buttress finial and circular ventilator
Pencil
As executed, the ventilator consists of a freestanding octagonal base of alternate colonettes and octagonal 'piers' supporting an octagonal upper stage, in the garden on the south side of the house. Its purpose was to vent the combustion fumes from the furnace in the basement below the Polygon Hall. It survives and is used as a sundial.
