Reference number
SM Adam volume 48/2
Purpose
[7] Design for the principal elevation and part-sections of a terrace, 1792, unexecuted
Aspect
Part-elevation and section of a three-storey terrace over a basement, with an eleven-bay end block articulated by Corinthian columns and pilasters with a projecting attic storey flanking the central three bays, and a rusticated ground floor. There is a flier which shows an alternative to this design with the central three bays forming a raised attic storey flanked by chimney stacks and balustrading. The adjacent three bays of the terrace has a first-floor Venetian window and columns separating the ground floor shop front. The entire building has a mixture of square-headed windows with plain and moulded surrounds, some with pediments and consoles, and doors with fanlights, and is adorned with enclosed rosettes, strigillated panel with a festooned cartouche, moulded cornices and balustrading
