River Clyde: grand pedestal and staircase dedicated to the River Clyde, ND, executed status unknown (1)
Notes
These designs comprise a perron staircase with a central archway terminating in grand pedestals. The designs appear to be for a civic structure, possibly in Glasgow, dedicated to the River Clyde, however, there is no indication of the proposed location or if this was designed in association with another project. It is possible that they could be related to a design for Hutcheson Bridge, Glasgow. Between 1790 and 1794, the Adam office were involved in making designs for a series of schemes within the city of Glasgow including Glasgow Trades Hall, Glasgow Assembly Rooms, Glasgow Infirmary, St George’s Square and Stirling Square.
