Preliminary design for a grate, chimneypiece and overmantel mirror frame for a lady’s dressing room, ND
Aspect
Above- Elevation of a chimneypiece with scrolled styles. The frieze has a central oval tablet, which is surmounted by a pedestal bearing an anthemion. The oval is flanked by a band of calyx(?) set within semi-circular headed compartments
Below- Elevation of a chimneypiece with Corinthian pilaster styles, a semi-circular headed grate, with a rosette and swags above. The frieze of the chimneypiece is ornamented with a further rosette and swags. The chimneypiece is surmounted by an oval mirror frame, which is flanked by figures and surmounted by a clock, which is flanked by further figures and urns
