Preliminary design for a chimneypiece, ND
Aspect
Elevation of a chimneypiece with Doric pilaster styles ornamented with a fan of foil, which has an apron consisting of a mask and a festoon of calyx, from which suspends a wreath enclosing a rosette and drop calyx. The capitals contain rosette roundels. The frieze has a central tablet ornamented with an urn, set within an oval and flanked by festoons. The tablet is flanked by Hippocampi(?) and arabesques. Above the frieze there is a band of dentils and the mantel is ornamented with a band of laurel leaf tips
