Preliminary design for a chimneypiece, ND
Aspect
Elevation of a chimneypiece with Doric pilaster styles, ornamented with a half patera, set within a band of foil and suspending ram masks, cameos, drop calyx, figurative tablets and rosettes. The lining of the chimneypiece is bordered with bands of beading and the capitals contain panels depicting draped figures. The frieze contains a central figurative panel, bordered with a band of beading. Behind this the frieze is ornamented with arabesques supporting calyx and alternating with calyx supporting anthemia, which are set within semi-circular bands of beading
