[4] Alternative design for a mausoleum for David Hume, 1777, unexecuted
Aspect
Upper: Elevation of a two-storey, mausoleum flanked by single-storey walls with coping. The ground floor has a central octagonal drum and contains an entrance within a moulded architrave with a tablet above bearing the name ‘David Hume’. Above is a circular tower with arched windows within niches, and a continuous dentilled cornice above
Lower: Plan of an octagonal mausoleum with flanking walls and a curved screen. The plan shows part of the ground floor with a circular interior, and part of the upper circular tower with windows in niches
