Notes
Differing from [SM D5/8/6] and [SM D5/8/9], the arched openings, 3 feet wide, are stepped on the bottom instead of having corresponding inverted arches. This more simple use of stepped brickwork would have saved the bricklayer time in not having to cut bricks to form the bottom arches. Evidently, Lewis had a different method to Dance whose detailing [SM D5/3/6], [SM D5/3/4], [SM D5/3/5], [SM D5/8/4], [SM D5/8/5], [SM D5/8/6], [SM D5/8/9] is consistent with other of his works.
