41 Lincoln's Inn Fields, sometimes labelled 'College House' on Dance's drawings, was the first of two adjacent houses bought by the Royal College of Surgeons, purchased in October 1796. The Surgeons moved in in 1800 (Survey of London, St Giles-in-the-Fields. Part 1 (Lincoln's Inn Fields), III, 1912, p.50).
