The scale was drawn and inscribed by Dance the Elder and the careful draughtsmanship is likely to be his.
A cross flory surmounts an arrow over a baluster and ball. No longer extant, the vane was replaced in 1898, by Blomfield's St Paul's-pattern, cross and ball.
