Purpose
[1] Record drawing for a ceiling for a drawing room, 1768, not known to have been executed
Aspect
Plan of a rectangular ceiling, with a semicircular apse on one of the long sides. The central flat is ornamented with a central roundel encircled by drops of calyx, and enclosed within a lozenge which has a tubular flower at each corner supporting festoons of bell flowers, roundels enclosed within wreaths, vesica, and rinceaux. At each corner of the central flat is an L-shaped compartment of rinceaux enclosed within guilloche, and the whole has a rectangular border of guilloche. The apse is divided by a band of guilloche, and contains a segmental patera enclosed within a fan, and a segmental frame with an apron of festoons hung from bows and rosettes
