Purpose

Design for a garden temple on a trefoil plan, c.1757-8 (1)

Notes

It is interesting that in this design on a trefoil plan, the recent schoolboy uses a plan form for the double-columned portico with alcoves that can be recognised in the double-apsed vestibules flanking the great entrance hall of his winning competition design for a gallery made several years later for the Parma Academy.
