[44] Design for a chimneypiece for the second drawing room, 1772, executed with minor alterations
Aspect
Elevation of a chimneypiece with the lining bordered with egg and dart moulding. The stiles are alternatively formed. On the left-hand side there is an Ionic column stile, embellished with anthemia enclosed within scrolled heart vines. Beyond this there is a Doric pilaster ornamented with enclosed anthemia. The capital contains a patera and a pedestal supporting an urn. The stile on the right-hand side is formed with a fluted Ionic column, and beyond this there is a Doric pilaster ornamented with drop calyx. The capital contains a rosette surrounded by calyx, and an urn. There is a central figurative tablet within the frieze containing half-putti, arabesques, and rosettes. Above the frieze there is a band of lion masks, and a band of fluting
