Purpose

[11] Design for a chimneypiece for the eating room, 1773, possibly executed

Aspect

Elevation of a chimneypiece with a lining ornamented with a band of laurel leaf tips, and the stiles form tapering, fluted term pilasters. The frieze is ornamented with masks bearing festoons, and with rosettes alternating with urns set upon crossed daggers. Above the frieze there are bands of beading flanking a moulded band
