Purpose
[53] Finished drawing for the stables, first design, c1767, unexecuted
Aspect
Elevation of a one-and-a-half storey rotunda surmounted by a raised conical dome bearing a weather vane. There is a central entrance with a Diocletian window above all set within a relieving arch and this is flanked by further arches containing Diocletian windows. The spandrels of the arches are ornamented with rosette roundels. Beyond the rotunda there are single-storey, three-bay link blocks with central semi-circular-headed entrances set within Doric porticos and flanked by windows. The link blocks connect to one-and-a-half-storey, single-bay pavilions with pyramidal roofs. The pavilions have central windows with Diocletian windows above, all set within a relieving arch. The arches are surmounted by pediments bearing acroteria and the spandrels of the arch are ornamented with rosette roundels
