[49] Finished drawing for a tureen, c1772, possibly executed

Aspect

Elevation of a tureen supported by a pedestal ornamented with fret, and with a fluted socle base ornamented with acanthus leaves. The tureen has a band of anthemia and arabesques flanked by rosettes and festoons, with a band of reed and ribbon above. The central panel is ornamented with a coat of arms flanked by figurative scenes featuring putti, and these are bordered by vines. Above, there is a band of laurel leaf tips, a frieze of masks enclosed within arabesques flanked by anthemia, and bands of enclosed calyx and beading. The base of the tureen handles are formed with satyr masks
