Purpose

[21] Design for the northwest front of a house, 1779, unexecuted

Aspect

Elevation of the northwest front of a two-and-a-half-storey, seven-bay building with a hipped roof. The central bay of the ground storey contains a window set within a relieving arch. On the first storey there is a balustraded Venetian window, with a tripartite window in the upper register, and these are set within an Ionic portico, with a frieze of rosettes. The flanking bays have three-quarter-height windows at the ground storey level and full-height windows at the first-storey level, with ornamental tablets above. In the upper register there are half-height windows, and the building terminates in raised Ionic pilasters
