Finished drawings for a house, c1790, executed with minor alterations (4)
Notes
These finished drawings for Beckenham Rectory form part of SM Adam volume 46. Rowan argues that this volume is unique within the Adam collection, quite possibly forming the core of an unfinished publication focused upon Adam designs for country villas and castles. The designs are undated. However, using Adam correspondence Rowan proposes a possible date of 1790, and suggests the hand of either Richard Crichton of John Charels, who worked as part of the Adam Edinburgh office during this period.
SM Adam volumes 46/102-5 are incorrectly inscribed as for Mr Ross in the hand of William Adam.
