[2] Design for the ground storey of a house, 1777, possibly executed

Aspect

Plan of the ground storey of a five-bay house, with proposed additions. At the front of the house, across the central three bays, there is a shop with apsidal ends containing raised platforms set behind tellers’ counters, with one half of the apse partitioned. The shop connects to an oval room with niches and a book-keepers room with a further counter. Beyond this a staircase leads to the strong room below (Adam volume 31/117). Additions to the side and rear of the house, containing further rooms, are accessed via a separate front entrance. To the rear (in pencil) there is a stepped, balustraded area and a latrine
