Improvements to streets, 1807 and 1810 (6)

After the north-west extension was built, the Bank's focus briefly shifted to improvements of the surrounding streets. The Corporation of London's city planning scheme, designed by George Dance in 1802, was still expected to pass. The Bank could not widen or improve streets without the City's permission. In January 1807 a railing was erected around the north-west, protecting Tivoli Corner and part of the north face of the Bank.
