Curatorial note
With a hinged lid, painted with the number 8, with brass bail handles on each side on oval back-plates; mouldings around base and lid; the interior fitted with two compartments, each with a lift-out tray; four pale blue silk ribbons to lift the trays, of which only two are still attached.
