A number of fragments (a winged cherub head, animal heads and foliage) mounted on a board.

Bronze

Museum number: S49

Curatorial note

The winged cherub head is probably 17th Century; the animal heads, 18th Century, and the foliage from an ancient Roman bronze. The animal heads seem to be of a cat or perhaps a wolf/fox and a liion. It seems that these fragments were mounted on this board by Sir John Soane as they are all on it and listed under one inventory number S49 in the earliest 1837 inventories.
