A truss composed of ribbon ornament

Early 19th century

Plaster

Museum number: M766

Curatorial note

This is one of a group of items displayed together on top of a framed cast in the Dome Area in a grouping seemingly designed to demonstrate the close connection between architectural or man-made sculptural forms and natural forms with a piece of ‘brain coral’ alongside casts of feet, and two trusses in the form of ribbon moulding which resemble vertebrae.
