Curatorial note

The delicately carved, low relief enrichment comprises large, flat acanthus-leaf sheathings between and behind which rise foliate stalks terminating in leaves and pods carved in a graceful/delicate, natural manner.

This fragment is reminiscent of the 'Hildesheimer Silberfund' and may be Augustan period [Jacqueline Thalmann]
