Design for the chimneypiece for the front parlour, c1769-70; it is not known if this design was executed (1)

The front parlour would have been located at the front, overlooking the river, on the ground storey of the house.

It is not known if this design was executed as there is no known photographic record of the chimneypiece prior to demolition.

The design is a close variant of that designed by Adam in 1766 for the 1st drawing room at Shelburne House (Adam volume 22/210). The Shelburne House chimneypiece design was inscribed by Adam in pencil with the words, 4 House / [ __ ] front Parlor, corresponding to the intended location of this design.
