Design and finished drawing for a ceiling, possibly for the lobby, 1772, thought to have been executed (2)

The intended location for this ceiling design is not known, but from comparison with Adam's plans for the house (Adam volumes 42/52-53) it appears most likely that it was intended for the lobby on the parlour (ground) storey, at the centre of the west front of the house, facing the square, between the entrance hall and the eating room. The lobby is the only rectangular room in the house which makes use of comparable dimensions.

All of Adam's interior decorative schemes for 20 Soho Square are thought to have been executed, but this is speculative as it was largely redecorated during the nineteenth century.
