Finished drawing for a ceiling for the bedroom, 1772, thought to have been executed (1)

The intended location for this ceiling design is not transcribed on the drawing, but from comparison with Adam's plans for the house (Adam volumes 42/52-53) it is clear that it was intended for the bedroom on the principal (first) storey, in the north-east corner of the house, facing the garden. The bedroom is the only rectangular room of comparable scale, which makes use of a single apsidal end.

All of Adam's interior decorative schemes for 20 Soho Square are thought to have been executed, but this is speculative as it was largely redecorated during the nineteenth century.
