Finished drawing and record drawing for the ceiling in the library, 1767, executed with minor alterations (2)

This design for the library ceiling was executed almost as shown, but without the four small oval medallions around the central oval. The plasterwork was carried out by Joseph Rose, and the mythological medallions were painted by Antonio Zucchi, who submitted a bill to Mansfield dated 23 June 1769. The subjects of the various panels are recorded by Harris, 2001, p. 186.

The executed ceiling is shown in The works in architecture of Robert and James Adam (1774, Volume I, Part II, plate vii).
