Survey drawings of the house, 1768 (4)

These survey drawings were presumably made in order to assist Adam in making designs for a new interior decorative scheme. The house does not survive in this condition owing to substantial alterations during the nineteenth century.

It is interesting to note that these drawings do not form a cohesive set as the plan for the first storey (Adam volume 31/79) shows a roof in the left-hand two end bays on the principal front, but on the elevation of the house (Adam volume 31/77) there are windows shown in these bays, suggesting that there are rooms beyond. No explanation for this is given.
