Record drawing for a sideboard table for the eating room, 1767, as executed (1)

The eating room sideboard was executed in gilt mahogany in accordance with Adam's design, probably by Linnell, and it survives in situ.

A matching pair of smaller pier tables was also executed for this room. Although designed en suite, they are slightly simpler in design, without the apron of anthemia crockets. Moreover, they have simpler, more robust legs to support their mosaic slabs.

There is a complete Adam office copy of this drawing within the National Trust drawings collection at Osterley. Moreover, it is illustrated with the accompanying pedestals, urns and wine cooler in The Works of Robert and James Adam, Volume III, plate ix, albeit mislabelled for Syon.
