Record drawing for the ceiling for the front drawing room, c1768-72, probably unexecuted (1)

Though it is not known in which house on Hertford Street Mrs Stevenson resided, it is unlikely that this ceiling design was executed as there appears to be no record of it. It is not known if Adam made other interior decorative designs for Mrs Stevenson, but it is probable that any - including this ceiling - were made at around the same time that Adam was working at 10 Hertford Street for General Burgoyne - during the late 1760s and early 1770s - as at this time the houses were newly built and being decorated by their tenants.
