Finished drawing for the hall, 1765, executed with minor alterations (1)

The hall is in the centre of the north front of the house, between the library and the music room.
It survives but with the dado and one of the chimneypieces removed. The square-headed recesses were subsequently replaced with semicircular-headed niches which were extended down to floor level, and filled with busts.

This room is one of Adam's finest Doric halls, although the arrangement of engaged Doric columns and niches had been intended for the room since Carr's design.
