Survey plan of the offices showing proposed alterations, 15 May 1787 (1)

The proposed alterations to the offices (shown in pink wash) consist of a new wagon entrance to the kitchen court, partitioning of the washouse area, provision of new windows and doors to the laundry and new washouse, making a servants' powdering room and shoe cleaning area and placing a partition wall between a store room and the housemaids scullery. Dean (op.cit) notes that 'although much remodelled and now converted into flats, part of the offices wing re-organized by Soane in 1787 survives and corresponds with [this] plan. Some of Soane's partitions can still be identified. The carpenter's shop, woodstore and gate piers have been lost.'
