Variant designs for the organ case in the music and breakfast room, and earlier preliminary design for drawing room ceiling, October 1799 (2)

The organ case is centred on the north wall of the music and breakfast room. A ground floor plan of the room shows the organ between bookcases (drawing 128), but these are not included in drawings 142 and 143 and are probably for an earlier design. The organ case is crowned with an acroterion in the form of a sculpted relief roundel draped with a swag, between antefixae decorated with harps. Sets of pipes frame the case and are aligned beneath fluted pilasters and crowning antefixae. An alternative design for an organ with coved corners is on drawing 143, in pencil on the plan and in a rough plan in the margins of the sheet.

Drawing 142 was made on a sheet that has an earlier design for the drawing room ceiling (see drawing 124).
