Symmetrical Palladian; round corners, 1823-24 (2)

Design Note:-
The adoption of curved corners for the design of the Law Court’s north façade to New Palace Yard, without subsequent articulation, was occasionally returned to with a notion to create a symmetrical building on the east side of Westminster Hall. The latter would house the displaced records of the various Courts, accommodated in Westminster Hall, and the Duchy Court of Lancaster, which had long been established on this site. Such ideas would ultimately be explored again in his ‘Last Word Scheme’ of 1828-29.
