Design for alterations to the tribune on the first floor (1)

Soane's drawing (111) suggests that alterations were made to the tribune's first floor after construction began. The plan corresponds to the alterations to the tribune made on the versos of drawings 67, 68 and 72, having a segmental-ended room with apsidal niches lining small flanking corridors. The principal corridor on the first floor has three areas with raised ceilings: two have coved ceilings and one has a stepped design, described as 'flat arches' on the drawing.

The verso of drawing 111 has an unrelated note regarding the 'Fr[ench] Hospital'. It appears that the note was inscribed on the sheet after it had been folded up, probably as Soane was travelling to/from Tyringham. Soane served as an arbitrator on some occassions, and this note may relate to one such case.
