Design for alterations to the house

The ground plan of the house shows three chimney-pieces and two ovens added (in red wash).

The plan shows the house as it stood in 1798 and is the result of two building phases. The original was a 17th century red brick house with a gabled stone front. A three-storey square east block was built by Henry Keene in c.1755-9, as shown here by the three large rooms on the left-hand side of the sheet, in two of which Soane proposes replacing the chimney-pieces. The offices on the right-hand side of the sheet were also probably added by Keene.
