Presentation drawing of the old house, July 1798 (1)

The view shows the old house from the east. The stone building has projecting gabled ends and an eight-bay centre range with a door framed by a small Ionic portico crowned with a scrolled pediment. This door casing was salvaged and reused in the stables built in 1800 (see drawings 165-167).

The drawing was made by Joseph Gandy in 1798 along with views of the new house. See drawings 151 to 156 for the other drawings in this set.
