Valuation for plaster work on two niches, October 1787

Henry Hurle was not one of Soane's employees and his service as a valuer may have been sought by Charles Wilmot the plasterer. Hurle is an uncommon surname and (internet sources suggest) that he may have been Henry Hurle (1739-95) of Garlick Hill, London who was a carpenter, surveyor and builder. He was a Member of the Court of Common Council and also a founding member of the Ancient Order of Druids, a fraternal organisation established in 1781.

An elevation of the head of a niche with water leaves, Vitruvian scroll mouldings, beads and a variety of rosettes is in the Bodleian Library, Oxford (MS Beckford c.84 f.112r).
