Design for a chimney-piece, by Richard Hall, 19 February 1825 (1)

The verso has correspondence from Richard Hall to John Carline, dated 19 February 1825, stating that he received the estimate and gave J.S. the particulars, but has not yet received an order. He appends a plan of another chimney-piece for J.C. to estimate the cost of executing in brown marble. The slab is to be 2 ft. wide and 1 in. thick, and of the marble which J.C. mentioned in his last letter: the kind that is generally used for hearths, and bears a hard and good polish. The letter has been annotated by Richard Hall: 'The estimate for this chimney was not sent, but ordered to be done and a small one for Mr Sillitoe's dressing room maid of the same kind of marble but no estimate'.
