Surveys and a design for the office range, December 1792 and January 1793 (3)

Drawings 25 and 26 are surveys of the office range made in December 1792. Survey drawings 4 and 5 made in June 1790 show the same buildings, though these early drawing are less detailed, omitting the single-storey sheds, walls and interior fittings. Drawing 27 is a design for alterations to the buildings. The offices are attached to the east end of the house and projecting north to balance the west library wing. The offices include a kitchen, scullery, laundry, wash house, brewhouse, larder, dairy, slaughter house, shoe house, glazier's shop and sheds for the storage of wood and coal. The buildings encircle a yard. The nine-bay building on the south side provides nine bedrooms on the first and attic floors. An additional bedroom is over the larder and accessed by a separate staircase.

Drawing 27 is a design for the office alterations. The plan was sent by post to Wimpole on 5 January 1793, showing the rooms reallocated and with some alterations including, for example, the laundry at the centre of the plan and adjoining the wash house and the brew house moved to a smaller room at the end of the nine-bay range. The west range is altered to allow for a different storage system, with separate rooms partitioned off to include a game larder, wet larder, dry larder and a pastry. The dairy is moved to allow more space for the wet larder. The kitchen remains unchanged.
