Working drawings for the doors in the eating room, 21 October 1790 (2)

The eating room is rectangular in plan with three north-facing windows. Due to the alignment of the new wing with the existing circular room, the main entrance on the west wall is not on axis with the facing chimney-piece, necessitating a blank door to correct the symmetry of the west wall and balance with the east chimney-piece. The two doors are framed by pilasters and a simple entablature.

Soane sent five working drawings to 'Mr Holland' on 22 October 1790, including details of mouldings for the eating room and a section of finishings in the eating room. Holland was the carpenter/joiner at Bentley Priory.
