Finished drawing for a bridge, c1763-64, executed with minor alterations (1)

This three-arched bridge was executed with minor alterations, and carried the road from Saffron Walden over the River Cam. According to Harris, a bridge had been suggested by Capability Brown. Adam's three-arched bridge design was executed in c1763-64, although the balustrade was replaced twenty years later in the early 1780s, omitting the quatrefoil ornaments, by Placido Columbani.

There is a drawing for the three-arched bridge at the house.

There is a second bridge by Adam at Audley End, the tea house bridge, which spans a narrower tributary of the River Cam. Built in 1782-83, there are various drawings for this bridge at the house, and it takes the form of an Ionic temple set over a single arch.
